RGO Office Products Edmonton Ltd. is currently seeking a Senior Designer to join our team. The Senior Designer works closely with clients, sales, workspace planning personnel, and project coordinators in the preparation and carrying out of original or adaptations to designs and design changes and/or customer requirements. In collaboration with Account Managers, this role completes concept drawings and assists with preparation of budget information.

Responsibilities

Client Relations/Site Visits
• Meet with client/designer/contractor to assess project requirements, i.e., timeline, budget, overall scope of work, product selection and finishes
• Visit site to verify conditions, confirm critical measurements and electrical. If existing furniture is involved inventory is required
• Assess client order status in system or with Sales Support to update client
• Prepare design concepts and revisions to review with Sales team
• Prepare mock-up drawings and presentation material as required
• Review electrical details with electrical consultant
• Select finishes and prepare presentation material/binder
• Attend project meetings
• Post installs follow up with client on major projects as determined by the number of workstations and timelines

Department Coordination
• Meet with workspace planners to review scope of work, review furniture details and select furniture finishes for preparation of drawings and specifications
• Check drawings/specs for accuracy and finishes
• Meet with Team Members to review project requirements, tenders, brainstorm on product ideas, scheduling and regular project status updates
• Prepare inventory request forms for Asset Management to confirm existing product available for re-use, if applicable
• Assist other Design and Furniture members with furniture concepts/finishes

Design
• Research furniture concepts/solutions; prepare sketches of layout ideas and meet with suppliers when necessary

Administration
• Prepare documentation including Design Tracking spreadsheet
• Prepare project summary with scope of work, costs, and scheduling
• Prepare quotes/estimates for chargeable scope of work on recons
• Prepare information package for furniture mock-ups and installation packages. Project coordination with client, contractor, and internal team
• Prepare PIA information when applicable
• Review of client billing.

Qualifications
• Interior Design degree, Interior Design Technologies or Architectural Technology Diploma
• Preferable 10+ years’ experience as a designer.
• Working knowledge of Work & Excel software programs
• CET experience, an asset
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies including Hedberg Business System
• Prior track record of achievement
• Ability to work, contribute and collaborate in a team environment
• Strong communicator who can comfortably represent RGO at sales and design meetings
• Outgoing, positive attitude, strong emphasis on listening, people management and hardworking
• Excellent problem solver who anticipates issues and develops resolutions
• Adept trainer who can impart his or her knowledge to more junior employees while coaching and mentoring
• Excellent time management skills
• Proof of full immunization against COVID-19 is required upon hire
